The usual review of past resolutions and the new set.

ExpandLast year's ambitions )

ExpandThis year's prospects )

Goals for January:
Drive Talon
Start a Fjord portrait (finish better, but at least start)
Fill up current sketchbook
Work Zeke 4 times
Work Jasper on driving
Finish the black yarn on Quentan's blanket

Adding in some fun statistics:

I wrote down the page numbers and word counts for my catch-all FBF document, FFK, and DotF last year. I started a document for HotF to free up the FBF catch-all some.

Jan 2021: Forged by Fire catch-all 22 pages, 11,434 words
Jan 2022: FBF 54 pages, 28,811 words
Added 32 pages and 17,377 words
Jan 2021: Fire Forged Key 93 pages, 52,726 words
Jan 2022: FFK 141 pages, 79,926 words
Added 46 pages and 27,200 words (cracks me up I'm even on the 100)
Jan 2021: Depths of the Forge 46 pages, 24,715 words
Jan 2022: DotF 65 pages, 35,699 words
Added 19 pages and 10,984 words
Jan 2022: Heat of the Flame (title might change) 9 pages, 4,695 words, the document didn't exist last year so it's all new.

Grand total for the FBF series: 108 new pages and 60,256 words, which is over 5000 words a month, averaging more than nine pages, which just boggles my mind. I don't know where I managed to eek out the time.

Goals for June:
Jasper worked in some driving capacity Yes! And then he pulled something and went lame. He's moving better now.
Zeke pulling tire again Yes! Need to do it more, much better than the first time
Finish Fjord drawing Check! Startes the next one
Start videoing for next course I don't know if I started in June, but I have done some videos for the new course and did a LOT of outlining and text-based stuff foe the course.

Goals for July:
Read some D&C/L&B in German
Drive Talon in cart
Work Jasper in some driving capacity
Go through Shifting Times script
Work Zeke
Catch up on bookkeeping (so much for my goal of having it good weekly... there's months in the year yet!)

I literally sweat off four pounds yesterday. I was 135lbs in the morning and at noon, before I rinsed off, I was 131. Holy crap. That includes drinking three quarts of fluid and having breakfast after the initial weigh in.

It has been humid and hot. Usually we don't hit 110+ when the dew point is above 50°. It's been 50% or more humidity in the mornings, easing back to 30% by the afternoon, but it's over 90 at 6am and hitting 100 before 10. It's 108 now and I just finished working 30 minutes ago (noon).

It threatened rain last night and gave a brief sprinkle, just long enough to notice it was happening, but then it stopped and stayed dry. Come on rain!

I got my HoofJack in FINALLY! It has been months backlogged between COVID shipping delays and the Suez Canal disaster and all other things making stuff scarce.

I had some extra minutes Saturday and worked with Jasper and Zeke using it.

Jasper was pretty good about it, but Zeke was a pain in the butt for his front feet, but good for his backs. I have some work to do, but hoping this stand both saves my back and frees my hands while I do feet.

Monthly goals from May:

Submit course: DONE!
Don't buy art supplies: Success!
Finish Fjord drawing: Fail, but I did work on it a little.

Goals for June:
Jasper worked in some driving capacity
Zeke pulling tire again
Finish Fjord drawing
Start videoing for next course

I can safely say that I have failed miserably in not buying more art supplies this year ...

So monthly goal: Do not buy art supplies in May.

In my defense some of it was for the boys (their own colored pencil sets and cases for Easter). Then my latesr failure was triggered by that series of drawings for Wendy and am a couple gessobords short to make the full set and I didn't want to change sizes and shipping is free after $49 and they're doing their anniversary sale and... well, you know how it goes.

So May is halfway over and I'm just now getting to my goals review, but I think I'll survive.

Reviewing March and planning for April. Hard to believe the first quarter of the year is gone already.

And April begins tomorrow so I feel ahead of the game with my goal setting!

My January goal of having a baby went well! Recovery is also going great.

I also used one of the packs of instant film in the RB, which I need to scan. I just need to use the color pack now. They didn't turn out 100% awesome, but better than the previous try. I think part of my problem is letting the film expire. You can get away with expired film with regular film, but I think with the instant film the developing chemicals aren't nearly so stable so that really affects the results.

So goals for this month:
Self
Set up counseling appointment for self
Email Tye back
Set up riding lesson!

Horse organizations and events
Get an email together for the ADHMA
Get back on track for setting up the Draft Show in October/November
Get Roots N Boots stuff together
Decide about the ADCS pleasure show

Art
Clean up ARIA illustrations and share
Get drawings done for Wendy
Use rest of instant film

Horses
Work McKlintock 2-3 times a week
Mess with Tru-D 2-3 times a week, even if it is just throwing the bridle or halter on, preferably working on whip skills and dragging stuff.
Get Ruby working a couple times a week to rebuild muscle.
lantairvlea: (lantair look)
As usual I start with reviewing and commenting on last year's goals.
ExpandConveniently under a cut )

Art
Share some drawings here monthly.
Finish the driving drawing!
Start a painting of the house (at least do some thumbnails and get the final sketch transferred).
Use my Polaroid/instant film ...

Writing
Finish editing and properly name STP-REALLY!
Another 10 pages on Fire Forged Key. (Slow and steady wins the race guys.)
Start case report on Zetahra.

Horses
Tru-D pulling tire and drag. Walks around neighborhood, ponying, at least introduce the cart, start riding!
Cinnamon- break the Stink to drive!
Kitt dressage show, driving show, driving around neighborhood.
Get someone off-property a couple times a month, even if it is just across the way. Help keep them sane.
McKlintock- turn him into a good lesson pony who can fill Chewy's shoes.
Get McKlintock's eyes taken care of.

Work
Take lessons myself for continuing education, maybe attend a clinic.
Promote driving side of business.

Religion
Temple work, idealy once a quarter at least.
Be a better visiting teacher (which means I need to take charge and not wait around for my partner to contact me...)
Read at least one book about religion and/or church history
Keep up with lesson reading for the Book of Mormon this year (preferrably in German!)
Build family history folder, preferably for both Chris and I, but at least get my side going first.

Self/Life in General
Have a healthy, baby boy #3 and get used to life with three kids.
Do some exercise daily outside of normal horse work, try toconvince Chris to join me.
Two-point for 15 minutes.
Do monthly goals and evaluations about overarching resolutions. This should help everything else fall into place.
Once things are settled see about doing counseling with my parents again. I've been at peace just leaving things as-is, but would like to have some sort of healthy relationship if possible.
lantairvlea: (lantair look)
For art:
Finish test painting
Maybe do a second test painting
Prep panels when they get in and at least lay out the sketch if not start painting

Horses:
Keep playing with the Stark Naked Bits
Measure Tabbi (I've been dreading it at this point, but she IS eating consistently now, I'll post about it eventually)
Work Tru-D twice a week, even if it is just taking her for a jaunt around the house.
Try to work Cinnamon once a week.
Bud consistent picking up right lead canter.

Other:
Set up VT appointments
See how long I can hold the two-point
Set up counseling session(s)

Taking antibiotics and grateful that I'm not really experiencing any of the possible side effects and it appears to be doing its job as plumbing seem back to normal.

Chris jump-started the garden on Saturday by getting the furrows ready. We picked up seeds and a couple plants today. Seeds include Eggplant, Butternut Squash (love butternut ...), carrots, spinach, beets, watermelon, pumpkin, and cantelope. We also picked up some little strawberry plants, two tomatoes, and bell and jalepeño peppers.

I'm excited to get it growing. The boys "helped." Tristan got distracted fairly quickly and abandoned us for Farfar's house. Kelhan kept wanting to water everything, including himself and ended up pouring water in his boots, which made him a bit grumpy. He was also pretty enthusiastic thrusting the seed into the dirt so we'll see where things end up growing!

ExpandHow last year went... )

Art
Consistely doing art each week, no time, but making a habit of doodling and sketching throughout the week. I have a stylus and art programs on my phone, no excuses!
Finish the driving drawing!
Start a painting of the house.
Use my Polaroid/instant film

Writing
Finish editing and properly name STP.
Another 10 pages on Fire Forged Key.
Start case report on Zetahra.

Horses
Tru-D ground driving consistently, full harness, walks around neighborhood, and ponying.
Tabbi gaining weight! Everything else is contingent on her packing pounds on and eating consistently. Ideally:geound driving, full harness, ponying, walks, and saddle introduction.
Cinnamon consistent in her riding.
Kitt consistent over small verticals, driving around the neighborhood, showing pending Chris' job status.

Work
Can I put down "Set up LLC" even though I accomplished that one today?
Continue to chug along and build business.

Religion
Temple work, idealy once a quarter at least.
Be a better visiting teacher (which means I need to take charge and not wait around for my partner to contact me...)
Continue reading Qur'an, finishing it probably won't happen, but I want to at least make progress!
Keep up with lesson reading for the Book of Mormon this year (preferrably in German!)

Self/Life in General
Do some exercise daily outside of normal horse work (even if it is just 10 sit-ups or a 10 second plank, SOMETHING).
Two-point for 15 minutes.
Do monthly goal checks and evaluations. This should help everything else fall into place.
Fix family crap, or at least give it my best shot so I can say I tried.
