Yet another day
Jan. 22nd, 2004 10:55 pmJust as people are not allowed to drive drunk, people shouldn't be allowed to drive "stupid."
People driving, especially on the freeway, find new and unique ways to annoy me. They also managed to blatantly display their disregaurd for other people and also the mass stupidity of humankind.
Things that would greatly improve the flow of traffic on the freeway:
1. Don't tailgate! Being five feet away is NOT enough room for manovering!
2. Merge right! I hate it when people are selfish and try speeding up and nearly force me off the road/into another lane.
3. Get up to speed! PLEASE! It is highly annoying when you're trying to merge onto traffic flowing at 70mph or somesuch and the person in front of you insists on going 45 (. . . snowbirds mostly).
4. Actually go the speed limit! Of course, I know I'm prone to going over, but at LEAST go the accursed speed limit! Would it kill you to go 65 on the freeway? The only real excuse I see of someone going exceptionally slow is if (1) something has just happened to their car and they're trying to get off the road or (2) you're hauling something, especially live animals like horses.
5. Let people merge! Don't be a jack and speed up when you see someone trying to get in. It is evil and highly annoying (especially if said person is being forced into another lane because the road is narrowing).
6. Use the turn signal! It is very, very unnerving to have a large suv/truck suddenly appear infront of you without any warning, particularly when they're cutting it close and you find the bumper hovering above your hood (or at least it appears as such).
Y'know. If people would just give each other some space and do the whole common sense, common courtesy thing it would be a much more pleasant experience for everyone. I also think that if people were to go freeway speed AND keep some space so they're not scrunched up like sardines there'd be a whole lot less slowing and traffic jams.
In other news it rained today. A lot. I ended up digging trenches for over an hour and a half to divert the water that'd pooled in the barn. It was rather fun actually. Reminded me of building channels at the beach around our sand castles to divert the flow of the tide.
Hopefully Charlie came and did the horses' feet. I don't know because I left before he came.
Went to class, hurra. Com looks like it might not be too bad. It seems I've lucked out yet again when it comes to profs.
Life Drawing was good. Lots of anatomy and learning. Also had our first nude modle, which happened to be a guy. I was rather happy with my neutral response as I'd been slightly stressing about it considering that I've had pretty much no exposure to stuff like that (and changing diapers doesn't count). I'll do my homework assignment tomorrow morning (torso muscle structures and such). I'm actually somewhat excited about this class as I'm really looking forward to improving my anatomy. I've already noticed quite a few things that have been missing in my art.
On another note, I'm almost done with Bradbury's One More for the Road. Good stuff as always. Hopefully finish it in the next week or two.
Ah yes. Michael's is officially evil. They are overpriced and are something of the equivalent to WalMart, except with art. I'm going to dig around for my reciept and go tomorrow to see if I can get any money back as they do technically have a "match or beat" garauntee and I plan on calling them on it. Utrech has much better deals and prices. I went to the store in Tempe before CRE100 started and picked up the rest of my supplies. It'd be nice to get some money back in my wallet. Especially considering some of the items were several dollars cheeper at Utrech.
Going to hang some with Shilo tomorrow after she's out of school.
Sleep now, yes.
