I feel somewhat neutral about holidays. I, for one, don't think I ever believed in Santa Clause, either that of I've just never stopped, or it was such a smooth transition it doesn't feel like either happened. The same could be said with the Easter bunny. Valentine's day, it was always just Valentine's Day. Some odd excuse people created to please themselves and make it necessary to display affection for another. I just shrug and roll my eyes at this. Why make excuses eh? I'm somewhat amused by those who've taken up calling it "Single Awareness Day."
Holidays are days of rememberence, well, for the most part. President's day is this Monday. How many people are fussing over that? All the students are doing is rejoicing over the lack of school. I personally feel that the Holidays that we celebrate should be more important and shouldn't just circle around spending money (though spending money on others is a good thing, it's not good if it's "forced" because of some silly holiday) and pretending. Bah, I'm going to look up St. Valentine's now. What made him worthy of having his own day? And why isn't he clumped together with St. Patrick? Being as Washington and Lincoln have to share a day after all.
Enough of my babbling *searched for information on St. Valentine.*
