when it rains in the desert . . .
Aug. 1st, 2002 10:52 pmEverything lives. The air itself is filled with a great haviness, laden with life. The very texture, taste, smell of it is different. The air becomes a comforting blanket as it promises the fall of life-giving water upon the parched earth.
Everything breathes once the rain starts falling. Toads take in their first conscious breath for months and the earth itself rises and falls in the motion of breath when the rain falls upon its face like the tears of joy, flowing down the familiar grooves and dripping off the elegant nose.
The Flashes of lightening and call of thunder announce it's arrival. It rains in the desert, we live again.
