Poor Kash, he must really be confused.
Me: "I think Sweety makes Kash nervous."
Cody: "She goes after him like a dog to a stake, she'd make me nervous."
First Sweety tries kicking him, banishes him so that he can only interact with Thunder, and then she starts letting him in with the heard. NOW she's taken to the idea that he's all hers and no one else should be near him. I think she even chased Thunder away from him. I blame her being in heat which is causing her to be flirtatious and feel the need to jealously gaurd him from the other mares (particularly Spirit who is also in heat). Kash is being fairly neutral about the whole thing, he's amazingly well-mannered.

Heh...*gets all nostalgic*

I remember when we moved Casey to Deb's barn...the boarding fee was like $70 cheaper than anyplace else, and Deb was so kind and stuff. Casey became an instant hit...I was out of town a lot, so to keep that horsey busy I told Deb she could do anything she wanted with him, so long as he got ridden and excersized.

Imagine my supprise when that head-Case wound up being one of her horses that little kids take lessons on! He'll kick and buck and pitch fits when ridden by competend riders, but put a four-year-old on him and he's obedient to the point of being almost mechanical. *laughs*

But he had issues with the other horses in her barn. He grew up all alone...his first owners kept him separate from all other horses all of his life. They feared he'd fight and get scratched up...and one of his biggest good points is the colour he has and he lovely appearance. So he's...always been at a loss to cope with other horses in a pasture situation.

Casey is by nature really agressive with other horses...and he lacks social skills when with them. He walked into the new pasture [we all stood by with ropes and buckets of water, just in case they all fought, as Casey and another horse once before got into a literally fatal encounter, where the other gelding had to be destroyed due to the injuries Casey inflicted...and I have ALWAYS felt horribly guilty for it, as it was my mentor and close friend's favorite horse.] and he started sniffing around, curiously poking other horses with his nose.

There was this little fireball of an Arab mare who had it in her head that she was the leader, and that nobody but her could go near this little quarter horse mare. Casey, of course, went up to the forbidden mare, and that little Arab stormed up to him like she was gonna eat him alive. I must admit, a pony-sized Arab trying to bully my 1,200 pound Paint was...almost cute. He just watched her for a few minutes, as if unsure what the hell she was on about, then he calmly turned around and put both hind feet into her belly. Every time she tried to bully him, he'd just turn and kick her. She was all supprised and confused...nobody had ever ignored her demands before. Casey just didn't know any better.

According to Deb, they scuffled the next day pretty good...though thankfully there weren't any injuries except a few little bitey marks here and there on 'em both.

Bleh, I'm rambling...sorry...
