The Equine world needs to have a Pitched and Thrown Society for people who've been tossed and so forth and have survived.

Common Myths Concerning Horses:
Installment one: Rein Flicking/juggling makes a horse go faster.

Flicking the reins while riding does NOT encourage the horse to go forward. If anything it irritates the animal and sets in its mind that you have no clue what you're doing. The only place in which flicking the reins has any effect is in driving where the reins run from the bit, over the horses back, and to the driver's hand as the reins are then positioned over the horse's rump.

Expect more when I think up of some.

Man, Kash is INSANELY agile and flexible! He can also take the most absurdly sharp turns. Now Judy has a fairly smallish arena. It's something like 25' or 30' wide and 60' long. Not very big considering that show arenas are generally (in my experience) twice that area. A horse can take that turn fairly easily at the canter. It's pushing it if you bring them in to about 3/4 or 2/3 of that (so somewhere between 18 and 20 ft circle in diameter) going at a slow canter. At least for most of Judy's horses. Now Kash . . . Crymedy. I swear, he was bringing himself about 180 degrees taking only about 10'. It may be less, it may be a little more, but all I really know is that it took him LESS than half the width of the arena to do a complete about face at a pretty good speed in the canter. He digs in really nice and his body leans in with the curve supurbly well, which I think really helps with his turning ability. He's spazzy to boot and even after giving him a good, hard workout he was still willing to get up and go hardly flicking an ear. There's Arabian endurance for ya! I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but he can grab his tail. I'm not talking about the end of it that's all hair, I mean the actual FLESHY part of the tail that doesn't even reach the horse's knee. I've never seen a horse be able to do that, not even a foal. Especially since he still manages to maintain his balance while he does this. I'm just amazed at him. Love my horse. Can't believe they sold him for only $500 . . . I swear, if I were to try selling him right now I could at least get $1500 and possibly make off with 2k. I'd still make money even including the board I've paid on him thusfar. Granted, what're the chances of me actually doing that? Especially if I don't have to?
