On a happier note
Mar. 5th, 2004 09:18 pmDespite the massive rainstorm yesterday I managed to get some time in with Kash today. Good stuff. Cristel came over and signed forms and saw the horses (decided it'd be best if she didn't ride in the muck).
I'm going to have to take my saddle in to Tom and see if he can repair it. While leading Kash into the arena he leaded in towards the left too much and the stirrup snagged (well, not the stirrup itself, but the part that connects the stirrup to the saddle, I'd say leathers, but that's an english term...) on the latch thing for the gate. It tore the fabric and some of the padding inside (I have one of those cordura saddles). Thankfully Kash didn't spazz out and stood while I undid the stirrup and got him to step over enough to get it off of the latch. I'm pretty sure Tom should be able to fix it. I'll be taking it in tomorrow . . . wait, Monday. Tomorrow the family and I are going to see Hidalgo as soon as I'm done with work. So, anyway. Take saddle in and see if Tom can fix it. Until then I may be using my English saddle, either that or use Mom's. Either way,it'll work out.
The horses have been in all day and they all started whinnying when I opened the gate. I think Kash was rather grateful to stretch his legs out even if I only rode him for a half hour. He was a bit of a handful though leading him (I think my right shoulder might have popped in and out again, it didn't feel good). But he did really good considering the conditions. Danced about, reared up a little (barely got his feet off the ground), and wanted to go where he wished, but he did really well.
After that I headed up to the Stake center off of Harris and University (Regular meeting house for the LDS Church is called a Ward building [a group that meets at a specific building and time being called a Ward], the larger buildings where Wards will meet for Stake conference or where some larger activities and soforth may be held are called Stake centers [a Stake consisting of three or more Wards or Branches, a Branch being virtually the same as a Ward but smaller] or, in some cases, Stake Houses). So, long-winded explinations aside, Elder L. Tom Perry was there to speak to the young single adults. It was really awesome. One of the key points he made in his talk was "Don't do stupid things." Very sound advice. Good stuff all around, need to type up my notes for Mus as she's still feeling a bit under the weather and couldn't attend.
