So I've been contemplating Human habits off and on for the past few months.

One that was touched on in my German class pertained to the tendency to NOT flush a public bathroom toilet if someone failed to flush it previously, unless there is no alternative apart from that toilet. It was surmised that this behavior can be pulled from the deep past of Human kind, possibly tracing back to just mammals in general. In the wild, all sorts of animals use their waste products (particularly urine) to mark their territories and warn others that it is their turf. Generally speaking another won't mark over this sacred post unless he (or she) intends on taking over the territory himself. Could it be that the Human hind-brain is seeing that unflushed toilet and thinking "Egads! That spot's already claimed!"

The female's general tendency to shop is often under ridicule by the opposite sex, or by those also of the female half of the species, but who don't like to shop as most do (clothing specifically). I believe this might just find it's roots in the old hunter-gatherer mentality. The male most often wandered off and hunted down the food, whereas the female cared after young and so-forth, but also contributed to the food supply by browsing about and perusing through bushes and trees, a set-up one might find to occasionally be unnervingly similar to a clothing store.

Another thing I find odd, though think I have an answer for, is the thought that a beautiful female must have large, over-sized breats. Or, rather, that a female with a larger bust is more attractive than one with little or no chest to speak of. I think this relates back to fertility and the servival rate of infants. One can assume that a large-chested woman is healthy and is well and capable of bearing and caring for children as her mammary glands are large and must be able to handle large quantities of milk, which would possibly mean healthier babies, which in turn become healthy children and have a better chance to reaching adulthood. Such thoughts have probably been engrained in the male psyce for a dain long time and won't be retreating any time soon, at least in the majority of the male populous whether they act out such impressions or not.

(As an amusing side-note, I initially spelled milk as Milch; my german speaking/writing ability seems to be kicking in, woo!)
