It rained off and on today starting a little after 8.00. Thus I only worked Starlight and the horses roved the barnyard while I mucked out the stalls. Kash was his mischevious self after getting bored with grazing in the rain. He would not leave Spirit's halter alone (Judy keeps the halters looped outside of the stalls). It was rather entertaining, but he shouldn't be chewing on those (granted, he shouldn't chew on 90% of the things he does, but that's beside the point.

Scurried home afterwards and met up with Chris. Looked at a horse, which it appears his brother is boarding, but is currently for sale. Despite the horse's small price I wasn't overly impressed. Primarly because he was a bit knock-kneed and I have a feeling that he was a bit older than the seven years they claimed him to be. I looked in his mouth and, though I'm no expert at juding age, I'm pretty sure that groove shouldn't appear in the tooth until the horse is 10 or so especially considering how much of a groove he had and that his teeth looked fairly worn up front, which also didn't seem to line up quite right.

A small lunch and peering over the plans for the "Art Studio" followed. By the looks of it we're going to try and build the Guest/Pool house/Art Studio first and live there while the main house is being built. All good stuff. And we've got the bid in for the pen and stalls, also good news. It looks like it'll be only around 4200 versus the one and two thousand more that most of the other guys bid at. Hopefully it'll be built in the next month and we can get Dakota and Kash down there. It'll probably end up saving me some $50 or more each month keeping Kash there vs. at Judy's. It'll be nice not having to pay for shavings and also swapping him over to hay instead of pellets all the time. Granted, I'll have to buy a bag of pellets and that senior feed for the first little while so he doesn't have a sudden change in diet and can get used to it.

Went home, got cleaned up, and then we headed off to the Mall. We roved around the art galleries a bit. Anyone heard of that Thomas Kinkade guy? If you haven't you've probably seen his stuff anyway. He does the victorian-type houses and tree scenes mostly. I admit he has some interesting works, but the HOUSES! They kinda drive me nuts. Same thing, over and over again. Or at least the same formula. And people buy it. Not only that, but people pay over a THOUSAND dollars . . . for a PRINT. A PRINT with little splotches of paint added here and there to bring out color, but to me, usually ends up looking a bit tacky. I should do more art.

After roving through the art galleries (and, yes, I admit, I was a horrible critique of some of them, like this one guy whose name I can't remember or it wasn't listed. He did these horse paintings and they were . . . I don't know. They reminded me of some rather poor, gaudy photoshop work. One had a manipulated photo background and it was just horrible. I'm certain that some of my fellow artist friends would have gouged out their eyes after seeing it. There were a few redeeming pieces, like this really beautiful one of some sort of fairy/fae and a little dragon done in a limited pallet, very beautiful) we meandered over to Dillards and I tried on a couple dresses. Mind you I rarely ever get into a dress. Even going to church I pretty much only wear skirts and shirts. Dresses, to me, are reserved for much more formal occations, like a dance, wedding, dinner, or funeral so the number of people who've seen me really dressed up are limited. Chris hadn't seen me in a dress before, so I agreed and tried a couple on after roving without luck through the ladie's section and having to retreat to the junior's for a descent dress that didn't resemble a flapper's choice in clothing or something else even more eye-burning.

Went home, shared some of the leftovers from Sunday (my family has Thanksgiving meal the Sunday before or after Thanksgiving, mostly because Dad usually goes to CA to visit his parents. Then I headed off to class, which I slept through most of it (evil me). It was a lecture on feeding horses and, let's face it, Prof. Hanes isn't the most engaging lecturer. That and I should have gotten to bed earlier last night.

So I know Bastek and I are flying in, and Airu's driving up, right? Have we talked of the possibility of Airu picking us up at the airport so we don't have to use alternate transportation getting to the hotel? If not I've a cousin around that area who would probably be more than happy to drop us off.

Ah, and Bastek, love the badge! Very awesome, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside; it's beautiful. If you want, you can save shipping and just bring it with you to the con.

Why is it that no matter how much I sketch and draw during the day, it doesn't really feel like I accomplish anything in art.

LOL, I cannot agree more with the Thomas Kinkade. All the houses look like they're on fire.

And I think it is awesome how you are able to gauge a good horse as one would a good car.

Yeah, if you were flying into Sacramento or Redding then it would be easy to pick you up X3 But like Bastek said... yes. I can't wait till then!
