Feb. 11th, 2012 03:21 pmThursday I dragged the arena with Charm-N. It was a lot of work! She wanted to trot almost the whole time and had a time of it convincing her that she didn't have to work so hard. She did quite well Friday just around the property for me so this morning I used her for Hal's lesson. They did so well together! Just as hoped.
I rode Jed for the first time this year. He also did quite well and I was quite pleased to discover he still has his power steering. I just had to get his trot going again. I might be able to start using him for lessons in the next couple months.
Kash has been doing excellent. I have two students on him at the moment and a third to start soon. He has been itchy though. Last month I picked up a shot from Chatham , which settled it, but it appears to be starting back up again. I don't know if he should have a skin biopsy or allergy testing or what. The shot isn't terribly expensive, but I want something thar, maybe, will prevent this from cropping up again. I'm tired of him rubbing his butt bald and raw along with other parts of his body. This time it was parts of his neck. His timing is impeccable. He does it just before he sheds out his winter coat. Too late to grow in more winter hair, but too early to grow in his Summer hair so it stays bald for WEEKS even if he's no longer scratching.
The pass through gait from the arena to stall area bit the dust today. Marty and I removed the gate-panel and will be replacing it with a 12 foot panel until Chris and I can pick up a new gate and panel. Time to go do that and then I think I shall start making dinner. I need to start planning ahead on these things so we don't end up staring at each other at 5 or 6 wondering what we want to eat.
